Biotech company in San Francisco is seeking Director of Plasmid Manufacturing. The person in this role will oversee the manufacturing operation team for various grades and scales of DNA plasmid prep, as well as sequencing, QC and related functions. This role will lead the process development of a fully automated, high throughput plasmid production line.

  • Design and execute key strategies, define resource and priorities, and make budget plans to support financial and operational objects
  • Lead a team to develop and optimize the production workflow and upgrade the process to improve the delivery capabilities and customers’ satisfaction
  • Implement manufacturing systems to improve quality, safety as well as operation efficiency
  • Lead a team of engineers and scientists to develop novel manufacturing platforms including automated platforms
  • Provide scientific and operational leadership to Plasmid Department, including training, coaching, and organizational and leadership development
  • Represent company and the department for efforts including branding events, public relationship events, and key customer communications

Requirements for Director of Plasmid Manufacturing – Scientific

  • A Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or related fields; MS degree with extensive industrial experience and team management experience can be considered
  • 5+ years industry experience working in plasmid manufacturing including deep understanding of the biology and chemistry of plasmid DNA is required
  • Experience with Sanger or NGS is preferred
  • Knowledge of high throughput automation processes is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 and cGMP regulation a plus
  • Leadership experience including hiring, training, and mentoring of a plasmid manufacturing team
  • Strong resource management skills and demonstrated record of financial acumen
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to collaboration with other teams
