We are looking for a Staff Dentist to deliver superior quality patient care to all patients who present for care whether on an acute basis or for routine care. Support population health efforts by adhering to clinical quality measures and using data to monitor, identify, and address variances in outcomes across the patient panel. Create and submit accurate, detailed clinical documentation consistent with federal, state, third-party payer, and organizational documentation, coding, and billing standards. Participate in ongoing and focused professional practice evaluation and peer review activities. Act as a resource for Registered Dental Hygienists. 

Clinical Essential Functions:

• Manage an active panel of patients, addressing both acute and routine conditions, per professional standards of care as well as organization policies, procedures, and protocols

• Deliver superior quality patient care to all patients who present for care on an acute basis or for routine care during scheduled, same-day, walk-in, and urgent care appointments, per department and organizational scheduling protocols

• Perform dental procedures, including fillings, extractions, and root canals per best practices and

• Support population health efforts by using data analytic tools to monitor and continuously improve outcomes across various patient populations

• Contribute to care coordination and continuity of care by referring patients for laboratory and diagnostic tests and specialty consults and following up appropriately on reports

• Submit accurate, timely documentation that captures clinical decision-making in both routine and complex cases and that complies with federal, state, third-party payer, and organizational documentation, coding, and billing standards

• Adhere to clinical and administrative quality measures as demonstrated by ongoing and focused professional practice evaluation

• Participate in clinical call rotations and act as a backup resource, as necessary, during after-hours coverage or other emergencies

• Work collaboratively with providers within the department and across the organization consistent with organizational standards for co-managing care

 

Minimum education and experience required:

• Graduate of an accredited dental school and an accredited residency program

• Eligible for board certification

• Valid State of Connecticut license as a dentist

• Valid DEA and Connecticut Controlled Substance permit

• CPR certification at the healthcare provider level or eligible to obtain certification within 90 days of hire

• Strong community health/public health orientation

• CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding experience

Preferred knowledge/experience required beyond minimum qualification:

• Three (3) years of experience practicing as a dentist, especially as part of a multi-provider dental group

• Experience working with socioeconomically diverse populations

• Familiarity with federally qualified health centers
