Director of SAP Accounting Systems

Scope:

This role entails developing an SAP support strategy for Finance, encompassing the design, management, and optimization of critical processes and workflows. Candidate will instruct and guide the team on applying and maintaining SAP technologies, offering user support and training. Additionally, candidate will troubleshoot and resolve SAP configuration issues while providing valuable input for future enhancements. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is based in New Haven, CT, with a hybrid work environment ideally requiring 1-2 days in the office.

Responsibilities:

• Support Accounting and Finance teams in adopting, applying, and maintaining SAP technologies.
• Troubleshoot system issues, collaborating with managed service providers to ensure accurate resolution.
• Refine system configurations to align with evolving business needs, offering insights to optimize systems and workflows.
• Oversee master data management and multiple reporting hierarchies.
• Lead report development in SAC, enhancing budget and forecast models.
• Identify opportunities to implement SAP best practices effectively.
• Assess value-added and non-value-added processes.
• Assist Finance in streamlining day-to-day SAP operations, identifying simplification opportunities.
• Conduct training sessions on Fiori tiles usage, identifying additional configurations for organizational value.
• Develop metrics to evaluate and enhance SAP systems and Finance performance.
• Establish infrastructure and enhancement standards and procedures.
• Stay abreast of SAP and Finance trends, including emerging technologies.
• Foster and maintain strong work relationships with key business leaders.

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ degree
• Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• 6-8 years experience in SAP configuration and workflow optimization
• Proficient in SAP system configuration and architecture
• SAP S/4HANA, including SAC, FPSL, and FSCD
• Data integration software (e.g. Boomi, Talend)       
• Preferred, but not required: Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting and reporting and NAIC requirements and statutory accounting, SOVOS – Wings experience
