Job Description
Responsible to function as the “scrub technologist” in the surgical suite and other clinical areas, which consists of the selection and set-up of the sterile table with instruments, supplies and equipment; the passing of instruments to the surgeon during the procedure; maintaining sterile technique and caring for instruments following the procedure.

As a member of the surgical team, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse Circulator, maintains the operating room sterile field; passes instruments, sutures, and sponges during surgery. Insures that proper aseptic technique is utilized to prevent contamination and infection. Assists the registered nurse with circulating duties.

Required qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a program accredited by the Association of Surgical Technicians.
• National Certified Surgical Technologist – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting upon hire.
• National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire.

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years Recent operating room experience.
