Responsibilities:
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to establish accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide medication management and prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications, following evidence-based guidelines and considering patients’ unique needs and preferences
Utilize clinical assessment skills and therapeutic techniques to provide counseling and psychotherapy to individuals and families, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for patients
Monitor patients’ progress regularly, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and provide ongoing follow-up care to optimize treatment outcomes
Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for management of symptoms
Document all clinical assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements
Stay current with the latest research and advancements in psychiatric nursing, attending relevant conferences and engaging in continuous professional development activities
Requirements:
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
Current, unrestricted license as a registered nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in WA
National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
Minimum of two years of experience working as a PMHNP, preferably in an inpatient setting
Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders across the lifespan
Proficient in conducting psychiatric assessments, differential diagnoses, and appropriate treatment planning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting and therapeutic relationships with patients and their families
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and experience with documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity
