The Director of Finance and Accounting, CPA plays a critical role in the development and execution of the finance and accounting department. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance and Accounting role is both strategic and hands-on, as you will be expected to ensure the essential day-to-day departmental functions and processes are carried out and completed with accuracy. All accounting functions are owned and/or overseen by this role. In addition to daily accounting operations, budgeting and reporting of financial documents will be produced and the Director of Finance and Accounting will need to possess the ability and insight to provide projections on the data with meaningful interpretations for the Executive Team. This role continually assesses the financial status and needs of the Company as it builds, develop, and oversee subordinates in the finance and accounting department. There is frequent collaboration with outside partners such as tax advisors, bookkeepers, attorneys, and other vendors. Attention to detail, accuracy, teamwork, and clear and effective communication will be essential for success.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Ownership of accounting and finance
  • Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and other financial data
  • Create departmental processes, procedures, and record keeping in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, & federal tax laws and regulations
  • Provide and maintain separation of duties
  • Manage Revenue components and recognition (invoicing and deferred revenues)
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
  • Manage and monitor working capital and liquidity
  • Manage and report Owner Guaranteed Payments and Distributions (profits & taxes)
  • Financial reporting, forecasting & modeling
  • Work with outside tax advisors on state and federal tax liability/returns
  • Financial strategic analysis 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA – Current CPA License is required for this position
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance (5 years in a management/senior role)
  • QuickBooks Online experience preferred
  • Experience working for a privately held company
