Participate in the establishment of short and long term PSM program strategies and goals for the continual improvement of site PSM performance
Assist department employees in the review of all plant process additions, modifications, construction, and operations for compliance with company PSM and OSHA policy requirements
Actively involved in management of change and incident reporting/corrective actions on process safety projects and incident investigations.
Lead engineering projects focused on process safety improvement/risk reduction with responsibilities of capital expenditures.
Manage site PSM program policy changes and revisions and communicating to and/or training employees and contractors, as required
Stay informed of new or pending PSM regulations and methods of enforcement and inspections by regulatory agencies
Work directly with regulatory agencies on all PSM matters including agency inspections
Provide technical assistance for personal safety initiatives
Partner with safety and compliance network to develop and improve training, tools, and policies.
Provide oversight for the site’s process safety information including: P&ID’s, PFD’s, chemical compatibility matrix, etc. Compile required process design information including PFDs, P&ID’s, Mass Balances, Equipment and Instrument Specification Sheets, etc.
Provide technical support to engineers, operations, and maintenance staff to ensure PSM/RMP process equipment is designed, maintained, changed, operated, and decommissioned in a responsible manner that complies with industry recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices.
Review and validate process equipment design specifications, safeguard specifications, and operating procedures. Complete process engineering calculations for relief loads, etc.
Assist with the development and review of inspection, testing and preventive maintenance plans for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls equipment.
Lead risk assessments and PHAs at the facility for anticipating, identifying and evaluating hazards and defining recommendations for improvement.
Lead engineering projects focused on process safety improvement/risk reduction.
Provide routine communication to site management regarding process safety issues impacting site. Propose detailed plans to improve process safety performance and reduce risks.
Partner with safety and compliance network to develop and improve training, tools, and policies.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupation Health Sciences, or related
4 plus years in safety role in Chemical Manufacturing environment
