Job Summary:
Responsible for instructing, coordinating, and supervising personnel engaged in
production planning, inventory control, purchasing, and shipping.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  •  Develop long-range master schedule to ensure customer requirements are met on a timely basis.
  • Communicate the master schedule and/or changes to the master schedule to other sections.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Finance sections in implementing design or product changes.
  • Compile data regarding customer requests for quotations and advise Operations Management and Finance of the same.
  • Place purchase orders for materials and/or services with vendors following prescribed purchasing procedures.
  • Contact vendors to determine status of orders and expedite orders as required. Assist in resolving problems with vendors regarding rejections, delivery, and return of material.
  •  Establish and maintain guidelines to control raw, in process, and finished goods inventories to satisfy customer requirements and at the same time meet budgeted levels.
  • Advise and consult with other members of management in reference to performance to schedule, delivery requirements, vendor performance, pricing and other important matters that impact the business.
  • Assist and direct others in conducting inventory cycle counts of purchased and in-house manufactured parts.
  • Maintain physical inventory records and coordinate monthly and year-end inventories with Finance section.
  • Maintain required records and complete necessary reports of purchasing and material control activities.
  • Develop new vendors or sources of supply consistent with Company procedures.
  •  Develop short range production plans to maintain consistent flow of material through the plant to ensure all customer requirements are met.
  • Review customer purchase orders to determine shipping requirements and coordinate or direct the shipment of finished product to the customer.
  • Performs assignments as requested by the Director of Operations and as required to support the best interest of the Company.

Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
College degree or ten years of manufacturing experience with broad knowledge of
materials management, production planning inventory control, purchasing, shipping, and
manufacturing processes.
High degree of analytical ability to interpret customer requirements into a workable
production plan.
Understanding of specifications and material requirements.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Understanding of computerized inventory control and purchasing system.
Understanding of manufacturing processed and general shop practices.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of SPC, quality practices and government specifications would be helpful.
