Our client, a growing law firm in the Houston area, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director for a newly created role. This position will work closely with partners and staff to ensure the firm’s operations run smoothly and profitably. The HR Director will play a key role in supporting the leadership team with recruiting, training, evaluating, promoting, and retaining employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Talent Management: Oversee employee recruitment, onboarding, and development.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Manage annual reviews, compensation structures, and benefits administration.
  • Full-Cycle Recruiting: Handle screening, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Training and Policies: Develop training programs and establish policies for new hires.
  • Employee Relations: Foster employee engagement and address relations issues.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • HR Strategy: Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and processes.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and address performance management issues.
  • Employee Offboarding: Manage terminations and offboarding procedures.
  • Summer Associate Program: Oversee the summer associate program.
  • Timesheet Monitoring: Track employee hours, PTO, and overtime.
  • Market Data: Collect and analyze data on hiring trends and salaries.
  • Payroll Support: Assist the accounting department with payroll and financial systems as needed.
  • Administrative Supervision: Provide daily administrative oversight of HR staff.
  • Marketing Support: Contribute to marketing and business development activities.

Requirements:

  • 4 year degree in Human Resources/Management is highly preferred
  • Current PHR, CLM or SHRM Certification or the desire to complete the certification once hired
  • 5 or more years of management experience in a law firm setting, with 30 or more employees
