Company is seeking a Director of Construction Training to be based out of our Sylmar, CA location.  

We are seeking a seasoned construction expert who is interested in transitioning their career to a new stage.  This is an opportunity for a career long construction person to transfer their knowledge to the next generation.

DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Construction Training will play a major role in the growth and retention of Early Career Development (ECD) employees across Company with initial focus on Engineers. This person will work collaboratively with Senior Management to develop a new Engineering Rotational Program that will assure our ECDs develop a well-rounded skill set, are provided growth opportunities, and have overall job satisfaction. The role will also develop, implement, and oversee a Mentoring Program that will focus on increasing touch points and interactions between our ECDs and Management Team. 

  • Develop and oversee Engineering Rotation Program
  • Develop, implement, and oversee Mentoring Program
  • Create meaningful and relevant employee and manager training and development activities that link to company goals and objectives
  • Work with internal Subject Matter Experts to develop effective training materials
  • Collaborate with Mentors to develop career-path initiatives
  • Manage and implement policies and procedures relating to organizational development 
  • Consistently research new training techniques that will enhance existing programs while maintaining company objectives
  • Manage a record keeping system that tracks employee training participation and progress
  • Train managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts on effective teaching and mentoring techniques
  • Plan, facilitate, and order supplies for employee development and training events
  • Develop and maintain organizational communications regarding training and development
  • Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results
  • Coordinate with consultants and outside training providers as needed 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 20 or more years of construction experience executing projects in the Heavy Civil and, or Commercial Building construction sectors
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business management or related field of study
  • Previous experience as Project Manager or Project Executive for a General Contractor executing projects larger than $500M
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Some experience in training field engineers and or project engineers in a construction setting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Strong process management, improvement, and documentation skills with the ability to develop and implement “Best Practice” processes
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to multi-task, be proactive, establish priorities and work independently or in teams 

Expected Salary range for this role is $250,000 – $350,000 depending on experience
