The Tool/Die Engineer is responsible for designing tooling, selecting materials, and developing new die and tooling techniques. This role involves researching new technologies and processes to innovate and improve products while aiming to reduce costs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Tooling Design:

     

    • Assess tooling design requirements for complex cold heading parts.
    • Develop and oversee tooling designs from experimental stages to full production, ensuring feasibility, fitment, and long-term production suitability.
  • Process Improvement:

     

    • Research and implement new tooling and machine technologies, innovations, and processes to enhance product development and cost efficiency.
    • Prepare tooling cost estimates for new products and assess design or manufacturing problems to establish specifications.
  • Technical Expertise:

     

    • Prepare and maintain CAD drawings using the companys engineering information systems.
    • Conduct tooling analysis and simulations effectively for product applications.
    • Oversee the building of samples and tooling engineering drawings.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

     

    • Work collaboratively within the department and with other teams to achieve and maintain high-quality performance.
    • Interact with local and corporate teams, as well as external sources and representatives, to complete job-related duties and responsibilities.
    • Utilize the current company information system accurately for job responsibilities.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in company procedures and work instructions to ensure maximum quality performance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and oversee tooling engineering processes.
  • Proficient in preparing tooling cost estimates and determining specifications for design or manufacturing issues.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining CAD drawings and performing tooling simulations.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills for interaction with all levels of the organization and external parties.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s Degree with relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
