Sr Engineer, High Voltage Cable Design

About the Role:
This senior engineering role leads high-voltage cable system design projects and provides technical expertise in underground HV/EHV transmission cable systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Design complete cable system solutions (69kV to 500kV), including accessories, link boxes, and fiber optic components.

• Act as a subject matter expert for HV/EHV cable system installations.

• Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to develop technical specifications and proposals.

• Support manufacturing with design handover meetings and resolve production issues.

• Lead engineering investigations and R&D projects using the “Stage Gate” process.

• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of safety.

• Travel Requirement: 15-20% (site assessments, customer visits, and conferences)

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field

• 10+ years of experience in underground high-voltage cable design

• Proficiency with Cymcap software for cable design

• Strong communication skills and experience presenting technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in engineering tools (Comsol, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, Pull Planner)

• Knowledge of HV standards (ICEA, AEIC, IEC, IEEE)

• Programming skills (e.g., Visual Basic for Excel macros)
