We are currently looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to join our Addison, TX office. This role involves implementing cutting-edge automation solutions using PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS/Delta V platforms, leading projects, and collaborating with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Role Overview
As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will:
- Lead automation projects by designing and implementing control systems for industrial processes and machinery.
- Develop control system architectures, including selecting components, designing schematics, programming controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V), and configuring HMI/SCADA systems.
- Work with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus) to integrate control system components.
- Apply programming skills in Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and other relevant languages.
- Utilize standard programming tools such as VBA, .NET, SQL, and Python for HMI/SCADA development.
- Manage projects up to $10M, including budgeting, scheduling, task prioritization, financial tracking, and team leadership.
- Act as a technical mentor, guiding and supporting junior engineers and technicians.
What We’re Looking For
✅ Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Control, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
✅ Experience & Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in automation and control systems.
- Expertise in Emerson DeltaV and experience with PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
- Proficiency with PLC platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon).
- Hands-on experience with HMI/SCADA systems (Rockwell FactoryTalk, Aveva System Platform, Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC).
- Strong understanding of DCS platforms (Emerson DeltaV or similar).
- Familiarity with Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.
- Experience across industries such as Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food & Beverage, Water Treatment, and Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics, control panels, and NEC regulations (AutoCAD experience a plus).
- Team leadership and mentorship experience.
- Project management skills (PMP certification is a plus).
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
