Position Summary:

Senior Waterproofing / Structural Engineer typically performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the organization including waterproofing recommendations, structural repairs for various building materials (i.e., wood, concrete, steel, etc.,) and the preparation of shoring plans for existing buildings undergoing restoration. Oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Being a Senior Waterproofing / Structural Engineer has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems. May guide and train less experienced team members. Additionally, Senior Waterproofing / Structural Engineer requires a bachelor’s degree of engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Senior Waterproofing / Structural Engineer contributes to complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. To be a Senior Waterproofing / Structural Engineer typically requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.

 

Responsibilities:

• Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans.

• Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.

• Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.

• Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.

• Determines cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations.

• Prepares shoring plans for structural repairs.

• Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.

• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.

• Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.

• Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.

• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.

• Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.

• Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)

• Able to lead a small to large team to deliver on commitments.

• Prepare & maintain budgets, proposals, and schedules for projects.

• Review billings and prepare change orders.

• Workload forecasting and resource allocation to support junior staff.

• Training and mentoring of staff.

 

Qualifications:

• +5 years of experience

• Florida Licensed Professional Engineer

• Certified Infrared Thermographer (preferred)

• Certified Document Technologist (preferred)

• Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering or Structural Engineering (MS is preferred) from an accredited university is preferred.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software.

• Expertise with civil/structural analysis software including operating and interpreting results.

• Knowledge of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects.

• Experience in working with various types of materials including wood, concrete, steel and aluminum.

• Experience working with engineers and architects and the ability to understand all parts of engineering contract documents.

• Experience performing onsite inspections, leading progress meetings and coordinating with contractors and field staff.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
