Job Description: Construction Project Engineer

Medium to Large heavy civil project experience ($30M+)

Overview

Support the project team by managing key administrative and technical tasks to ensure successful project execution. Collaborate with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

**Key Responsibilities** 

– Thoroughly review contracts and project specifications. 

– Provide support to the Project Manager and Superintendent as needed. 

– Assist in developing and updating project schedules. 

– Track quantities, monitor project costs, and contribute to cost forecasting. 

– Source pricing from subcontractors/vendors, including for change orders. 

– Coordinate equipment and material deliveries. 

– Work with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to address project challenges. 

– Support monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processes. 

– Manage document control, including submittals, contract documents, and record drawings. 

– Verify accuracy of daily reports (e.g., HeavyJob). 

– Maintain technical submittal lists, NPDES permits, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, and project schedules. 

– Ensure compliance with inspection, testing, utility coordination, and other notice requirements. 

– Communicate plan/specification changes to subcontractors and vendors. 

– Assist with project closeout activities. 

– Perform additional tasks as directed by the Project Manager.

 

**Qualifications** 

– Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management (CEM). 

– 5–8 years of experience in civil construction (field and/or office roles). 

– Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

– Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Primavera P6.
