Summary/Objective
The Estimator develops project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ($2M-$40M), interprets contract requirements, and mentors junior team members. Experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction required.
Essential Functions
– Interpret bid documents and construction plans.
– Conduct quantity takeoffs from project plans.
– Define project scope and required disciplines.
– Identify subcontractor roles and DBE participation to meet project goals.
– Identify constructability issues and value engineering opportunities.
– Coordinate pre-bid activities and owner inquiries.
– Prepare and review project estimates and schedules ($2M-$40M).
– Mentor junior estimators.
– Create and deliver project bid packages.
-Oversee junior estimators.
Required Education and Experience
– Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (preferred).
– 4-10 years of civil construction estimating experience.
– Familiarity with Department of Transportation specifications.
– Experience using HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
Preferred Education and Experience
– Experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.
– Prior work with NCDOT, SCDOT.
