Summary/Objective
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ranging from $2M to $40M, analyzing contract requirements, and guiding junior estimators. Requires expertise in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.
Essential Functions
– Analyze bid documents and construction plans.
– Perform quantity takeoffs from project drawings.
– Determine project scope and required disciplines.
– Identify subcontractor roles and DBE participation to achieve project objectives.
– Highlight constructability challenges and value engineering possibilities.
– Manage pre-bid activities and respond to owner inquiries.
– Develop and review project estimates and schedules ($2M-$40M).
– Mentor and supervise junior estimators.
– Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages.
**Required Education and Experience**
– Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (preferred).
– 4-10 years of experience in civil construction estimating.
– Knowledge of Department of Transportation specifications.
– Proficiency with HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
Preferred Education and Experience
– Extensive experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.
– Previous work with NCDOT or SCDOT.
