Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Rochester, New York

Position Overview:

Our client seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing innovative solutions across diverse categories. This position, based in Rochester, NY, offers a dynamic environment where you will work alongside systems, optics, mechanical, electrical, software, data science, and industrial design experts. Typical in-office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, strongly emphasizing work-life balance.

Reporting Line:

This role reports directly to the Software and Electrical Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and test new solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Drive technical solutions for manufacturing and industrial environments, ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Develop tightly integrated hardware/firmware systems from concept through volume production.
  • Perform board design and implement communication protocols such as I2C and SPI.
  • Utilize Altium Designer eCAD software for schematic capture and layout design (up to 8 layers), including impedance-matching and high-speed signal routing.
  • Mentor junior engineers to support their professional growth and enhance their understanding of electrical systems.
  • Investigate, propose, and build consensus for future technology solutions and design architectures.
  • Contribute to analog design, firmware development in C, and FPGA development using VHDL.
  • Leverage MATLAB and/or Python for data analysis and modeling.
  • Utilize rapid prototyping and 3D printing technologies to expedite product development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience driving technical solutions in manufacturing and industrial environments.
  • Proven experience in board design, including schematic capture and layout, focusing on high-speed and impedance-matched designs.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, including firmware and hardware integration.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA development using VHDL and firmware programming in C.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C and SPI.
  • Expertise in analog circuit design and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for computational tasks.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
