Senior Accountant

Company Overview: 

We are a fourth-generation company involved in construction, service, distribution, ecommerce, and light manufacturing.  We are based in the near west suburbs and seeking a Full time Senior Accountant to join our team.

Hybrid Work

This role is 3-4 days onsite with potential flexibility for 1-2 days from home after training.

The ideal candidate will have the chance to advance, potentially stepping into the Controller role when the current Controller retires in approximately seven years.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Support the Financial Controller in day-to-day operations.

·         Lead month end, quarterly, and year end close processes.

·         Perform bank reconciliations, audit preparation, cash updates, and manage fixed assets and inventory.

·         Handle WIP (work in process) construction entries, sales tax exposure, and refine internal controls, processes, and company policies.

·         Process weekly payroll and accounts payable.

·         Collaborate on team projects and work closely with IT departments.

 

 

 

 

 

Desired Experience/Education

·         Preference for 3 plus years in accounting with 12 years of auditing experience, preferably with construction clients.

·         BS in Accounting required.

·         Experience in construction, service, distribution, ecommerce, or manufacturing is a plus.

·         Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with ERP systems such as Acumatica, APIs, ADP and /or Avalara

·         Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.

·         Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.

·         Experience with union audits, certified payroll reports, or government contracts is a plus.
