We are partnering with a rapidly growing biotech startup in the greater boston area developing advanced organ-on-a-chip and microphysiological systems to model human disease and accelerate drug discovery. This role is ideal for a scientist who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment, is eager to take initiative, and is motivated by strong opportunities for technical ownership and career growth.
Requirements of the Scientist- Cell Biology:
- PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 1–3+ years experience developing complex in vitro models (e.g., organoids, 3D cultures, organ-on-chip, MPS)
- Hands-on experience with primary human cell culture and 3D tissue systems
- Strong proficiency in confocal and fluorescence microscopy in 3D tissue contexts
- Experience with immunoassays, molecular biology techniques, and gene/protein expression analysis
- Proficiency with image analysis platforms (e.g., FIJI/ImageJ, CellProfiler, Imaris)
- Experience with biomaterials, extracellular matrix systems, or tissue engineering approaches
- Familiarity with ADME/Tox, drug metabolism, hepatotoxicity, or nephrotoxicity assays
- Experience with data analysis and statistical software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, R)
Responsibilities of the Scientist- Cell Biology:
- Design, develop, and validate 3D in vitro tissue models using biomaterials, scaffolds, and organ-on-chip platforms
- Perform primary human cell culture and tissue model experiments using molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Execute immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), qPCR, and biochemical assays
- Conduct advanced imaging workflows, including confocal, fluorescence, electron, and high-content microscopy
- Analyze morphological and phenotypic endpoints using image analysis software (e.g., FIJI/ImageJ, CellProfiler, Imaris)
- Design and execute experiments; analyze and interpret experimental data
- Support development and optimization of microphysiological systems (MPS) and complex in vitro models
- Document experimental methods, results, and protocols; contribute to technical reports, manuscripts, and grant materials
