Responsibilities:
- Design and implement safety programs to reduce workplace incidents and foster a culture of safety.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Manage compliance with environmental standards relevant to the food industry.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety procedures and protocols.
- Define departmental goals using key metrics like lost time incidents.
- Evaluate and control factors affecting workplace hygiene, such as chemical exposure, noise levels, and lighting.
- Promote a safe working environment through training sessions, safety bulletins, and employee meetings.
- Keep abreast of safety best practices and hazard prevention techniques.
- Work closely with OSHA and internal teams during audits and safety inspections.
- Regularly communicate with employees to identify safety risks and address concerns.
- Undertake additional duties and special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- BS/BA in Environmental Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field is required.
- 3-5+ years in safety management roles, with experience in investigations, equipment safety, risk management, EHS, and OSHA compliance, ideally within food, consumer products, beverages, chemicals, or related sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of health and safety laws and OSHA standards.
- Capable of identifying unsafe behaviors or situations and recommending improvements.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Effective at influencing and communicating across all levels of management and various departments.
