Qualifications of the R&D Formulation Scientist:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in developing pharmaceutical formulations.
  • In-depth understanding of formulation techniques and industry practices.
  • Proficient in operating formulation and analytical instruments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong skills in organization and managing multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance guidelines.

 

 

Responsibilities of the R&D Formulation Scientist:

  • Design and develop innovative pharmaceutical formulations, such as tablets, capsules, and liquid forms.
  • Carry out pre-formulation research to assess the characteristics of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients.
  • Optimize formulations for improved stability, bioavailability, and patient adherence.
  • Ensure all formulations adhere to regulatory guidelines and industry standards.
  • Understand and apply 21 CFR FDA drug compliance requirements.
  • Perform HPLC stability testing, dissolution tests, and other essential evaluations to confirm formulation safety and effectiveness.
  • Develop prototypes and samples for further testing and validation.
  • Analyze experimental data and draw insights to drive formulation improvements.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all experiments and outcomes.
  • Ensure formulations align with internal quality benchmarks.
  • Implement quality control processes throughout the formulation development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams such as quality control, regulatory, and production.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and results clearly to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends in pharmaceutical formulation and evolving regulatory standards.
