Our Protection and Control (P&C) Engineers independently produce and manage the completion of P&C packages. This includes overseeing designers and drafters to ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Professional Engineer (PE) License
4+ years of experience in engineering/designing electrical systems within the Utilities or Energy industry
Skilled in AutoCAD (MicroStation experience is a plus)
Experience with ETAP, WinIGS, IEEE 88/998
Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, and/or Bentley Substation software to develop 2D drawings or 3D models is a plus
PE Certification is a plus
Knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following skillsets is a plus: SCADA, automation, relay settings, RTU configuration, and Protection & Controls engineering concepts
Experience working with the electric utility or petrochemical industry
BSEE Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
Identify appropriate protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations
Select proper protection devices for substation equipment
Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates for substation design and evaluation
Determine proper equipment sizing and procure necessary materials
Ensure compliance with customer standards regarding relay protection
Create substation relay protection drawing packages, including wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, one-line, and three-line diagrams
Interface with clients and vendors to coordinate project requirements
Perform load calculations for panels, battery systems, voltage drop, and various substation components
Provide field support and pre-inspection for substation projects, including protection panels, circuit switchers, circuit breakers, transformers, control houses, and supporting equipment
Mentor and train new engineers
