ABOUT THE ROLE: The Project Engineer will interface with clients, engineers, project managers and/or vendors to successfully complete projects in the parcel handling industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop an understanding for the specific engineering design requirements per project, as well as general parcel handling knowledge, including:
Customer specifications/standards
Project scope definitions
Contract Change Orders
Review and approve vendor supplied designs, equipment, & drawings.
Provide technical interface with client’s project representative(s) to address clarifications, exceptions and/or changes during project execution.
Communicate project specific information with other DF&I departments including mechanical design, project management, purchasing, field installation, and fabrication.
Provide technical interface to internal teams addressing technical/design concerns.
Estimate engineering hours as well as support, logistics and/or installation hours necessary for project completion.
Perform or assist in directing engineering analysis as determined by project needs in respective disciplines.
Develop and/or maintain project specific status documents for scheduling considerations and client communications.
Develop and/or maintain project specific technical and/or budgetary documents for design/construction considerations and client communications.
Execute project with emphasis on cost-reduction, quality, and customer-centric focus.
Provide support to field installation team throughout duration of project installation.
Collect, compile, and submit project start-up and as-built documentation and drawings.
Develop tools and improvement for Project Engineering.
Create and update training documentation and material.
Execute and improve quality assurance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial/material handling equipment; preferably within the parcel handling segment of the conveyor systems industry.
A 4-year degree in Engineering or related field is required.
3D/2D CAD experience required, preferably AutoDesk suite, in designing conveyor systems or industrial equipment.
Microsoft Office experience
Ability to read, understand and apply client specifications.
Ability to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, contractors and/or co-workers.
