Process Engineer – Metal Forming

Our client, a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is seeking a Process Engineer to support their metal forming operations. This role will focus on improving manufacturing processes, optimizing forming operations, and ensuring high-quality production standards within a fast-paced automotive environment.
The Process Engineer will work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and tooling teams to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and support new product launches. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with automotive manufacturing experience or individuals eager to develop expertise in metal forming and stamping processes.
Salary range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000, depending on experience.
Support and optimize metal forming and stamping processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met
Analyze production data and identify opportunities to improve cycle time, scrap reduction, and overall equipment efficiency
Troubleshoot process issues within the forming area and implement corrective actions
Work with tooling, maintenance, and production teams to ensure proper setup and operation of stamping and forming equipment
Assist with new product launches, including process development, validation, and documentation
Develop and maintain standard work instructions and process documentation
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and cost reduction projects
Support root cause analysis and implement solutions for quality and production issues
Monitor process capability and maintain compliance with automotive quality standards
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
Experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably within a Tier 1 supplier environment
Exposure to metal forming, stamping, or related manufacturing processes preferred
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and process improvement methodologies
Ability to analyze data and implement practical engineering solutions
Experience working cross-functionally with production, quality, and maintenance teams
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other engineering tools
