Job Title: Finishing Lead

Primary Job Description:
Responsible for overseeing the production processes and personnel within the finishing department. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure production schedules are met, managing tools and supplies, and working to continually improve production efficiency and reduce costs. The Finishing Lead also plays a crucial role in personnel management, training, and compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with supervision and management to plan and schedule production.
  • Understand and manage all equipment and its requirements.
  • Ensure finishing schedules are adhered to and production is on time.
  • Coordinate with other department leads to maintain timely production flow.
  • Review job files and order necessary paint and powder supplies.
  • Train and manage finishing department personnel.
  • Continually improve production processes, aiming to increase efficiency and reduce waste and expenses.
  • Order and manage tools and supplies for the finishing department.
  • Work with the engineering team to minimize rework and enhance design quality.
  • Update job sheets daily.
  • Communicate with equipment and technical suppliers as needed.
  • Assist in fulfilling environmental and safety reporting and compliance requirements.

Secondary Job Duties:

  • Train and prepare a backup to handle day-to-day job responsibilities.
  • Evaluate and train personnel, ensuring they are up to date with safety training and certifications.
  • Report any rework, drawing mistakes, or issues that could increase job time or cost.
  • Stay informed about new equipment and technologies in the finishing industry.
  • Identify and prepare a successor for the Finishing Lead role.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in powder/paint/finishing.
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency in managing production schedules and understanding equipment needs.
  • Commitment to improving production efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations.

  • Salary: Hourly Nonexempt
  • Hours: 40+ per week
