Job Description:

As an Optometrist, you will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and treat ocular diseases, and provide pre- and post-operative care. You will work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care and education. Excellent communication skills and a passion for eye care are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect any ocular abnormalities or diseases.

  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids to correct vision problems.

  • Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.

  • Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems.

  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in optometry practices and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school.

  • Valid state license to practice optometry.

  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control procedures.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to the field of optometry.

  • Strong understanding of optical principles and the ability to interpret prescriptions accurately.

  • Proficiency in medical coding for billing purposes.

  • Excellent sales skills to effectively communicate the benefits of eyewear options to patients.

  • Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures and treatments.

  • Solid understanding of anatomy as it relates to the eyes and visual system.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.
