Nurse Manager – Emergency Department:

  • POSITION SUMMARY:
    • This Emergency Nurse Manager will oversee two Emergency departments. 
      The Nurse Manager has responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and an outstanding patient / family experience.   The Nurse Manager intentionally creates an environment that fosters staff development, staff empowerment, collegial relationships and best practice in the delivery of nursing care.  The Nurse Manager  allocates  resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate and fiscally responsible nursing care..  The Nurse Manager assures the coordination of care across department lines through a focus on systems that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication.   The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel.  Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for personnel accountable to the nurse manager.  Responsible for supervision and oversite of the Emergency Department, Hospital Clinical Leaders, Medic 55 ALS Program
       
      • EDUCATION:
        • Minimum:
  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program, Masters in Nursing or related field.
     
  • LICENSE:
    • Minimum:
  • Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. 
    PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
      • Minimum:
        • BLS, ACLS, PALS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.  
        • Basic Coronary Care within 6 months of hire. 
        • CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
        • TNCC required within 18 months of hire.
      • Preferred:
  • Certified Emergency Nursing within one year.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum:
    • 3-4 years experience as an RN.
    • At least 18 months RN experience in an Emergency Department.
  • Preferred: 
    • 1 year management / leadership experience. 
SKILLS:
      • Minimum:
        • Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire into this position.
        • Interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
        • Knowledgeable in the area of management systems and processes.
        • Demonstrated ability to establish effective work relationships in an effort to lead others in the direction of meeting organizational objectives.
        • Analytical skills to assess departmental needs, develop, and implement planned interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of applied interventions.
        • Ability to facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. 
        • Familiarity with The Joint Commission requirements. 
        • Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets
      • Preferred:
        • Experience with Microsoft Office products including  word, excel and power point & Meditech.

  • Geneva is a city in New York State. It is located at the northern end of Seneca Lake, known as the Finger Lakes Region. It boasts quality wine trails, a rich history, natural beauty, and four season attractions.
    On Cayuga Lake, the city of Ithaca is home to Cornell University. The surrounding area is marked by high gorges, many with dramatic waterfalls, including Taughannock Falls and Buttermilk Falls.
  • Near the tip of Seneca Lake, Watkins Glen State Park has rocky cliffs and cascading waterfalls, plus trout fishing. Southwest is the Corning Museum of Glass. To the north is the Old Erie Canal, a pivotal 19th-century waterway now offering hiking, canoeing and fishing. In the northwest, the city of Rochester overlooks Lake Ontario. It is a short drive to Syracuse, NY. Not a far drive to a top rated mall, great restaurants and tons of outdoor activities. You can find Hobart and Williams Smith Colleges and Ithaca college nearby.
