MRI Technologist – Research Setting
Location: Chicago, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:30 PM or 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
Type: Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an MRI Technologist for a unique opportunity in a research-focused imaging center in Chicago. Unlike traditional clinical roles, this position is centered around supporting research studies in a structured, low-pressure environment. It is ideal for MRI technologists who are interested in contributing to scientific advancement without the demands of hospital-based imaging.

Why This Role is Different

This is not a high-volume clinical role. You will be working in a controlled, collaborative setting where research and precision are prioritized over patient throughput. You’ll work alongside a dedicated research team that handles most patient education and preparation, allowing you to focus on high-quality image acquisition.

  • No weekend shifts or holiday coverage

  • No inpatient imaging, no pediatric cases, and no sedation/anesthesia cases

  • Most exams do not require IV access or contrast administration

  • A structured training and onboarding period is provided

  • Support from experienced team members will be available throughout the assignment

Equipment Used

  • Philips 3T Achieva – primarily used for fMRI exams

  • Philips 3T Ingenia – used for breast, body, and prostate imaging

Comprehensive prep materials and workflows are available for both systems. While experience with EPIC is a plus, it is not a requirement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • ARRT certification in MRI or equivalent

  • Prior experience with Philips 3T scanners is beneficial

  • Comfortable working independently in a research setting

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow structured protocols

  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset

If you’re looking for an opportunity to step out of the traditional clinical environment and into a role that supports cutting-edge research in a supportive and highly organized setting, we encourage you to apply.
