We are working with a $30M closely held manufacturer to identify a Mechanical Engineer focused on centrifugal pump design. This role will support the development and optimization of pump systems across a range of applications including industrial, water, and related markets.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative engineering environment with strong visibility into product development and the ability to contribute directly to design improvements and new product initiatives.

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of centrifugal pump systems, including both hydraulic and mechanical components. This role will focus on improving performance, efficiency, and reliability while supporting new product development and ongoing product enhancements.
Define pump performance requirements including flow rate, head, and fluid characteristics
Design and optimize centrifugal pump hydraulics (impellers, diffusers, volutes)
Perform detailed mechanical design of components including shafts, seals, bearings, and housings
Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of material using SolidWorks or similar tools
Utilize CFD and analytical tools to evaluate and improve pump performance
Analyze and optimize designs to address efficiency, cavitation, vibration, and durability
Support prototype builds and testing, including performance validation and design iteration
Conduct root cause analysis on field or test issues and implement corrective design changes
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, vendors, and other engineering teams to support production and continuous improvement
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
5+ years of experience in centrifugal pump design or rotating equipment
Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and pump hydraulics
Experience designing key pump components such as impellers, volutes, shafts, seals, and bearings
Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
Experience using CFD or similar performance modeling tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in an on-site, collaborative engineering environment
Exposure to plastic injection molding or similar manufacturing processes
