- A Machining Engineer who can ensure that the fixturing and process for machined parts are optimized.

DUTIES
- Develop robust CNC programs; develop clear and concise machine tool operator instructions and related documentation
- Ensure application of sound engineering, fixturing, machining, testing, and planning principles to machining process design
- Analyze blueprints, models, and other engineering design documentation to establish the optimal fixturing, machining, and testing methods, processes, and sequences
- Set up new jobs on the correct machine(s) and develop / debug / launch CNC programs
- Copy, edit, back up, and/or format existing programs as needed
- Minimize scrap by appropriately developing and adjusting speeds, feeds, tooling sequences, operating sequences, and cutting tool selection
- Use CNC programming skills to update existing processes, programs, and instructions to ensure quality and efficiency
- Optimize existing machining processes to increase throughput by reducing quality risk, reducing cycle times, lowering setup times, improving cell safety and ergonomics, improving tool life, streamlining part flow, developing metrics, and creating a visual factory environment
- Evaluate the effects of engineering change proposals as required
- Assist in training CNC machine operators as needed
- Provide technical data required to maintain production schedules
- Initiate requests for engineering changes to correct drawing errors and to eliminate production problems
- Initiate tooling, planning, and other change requests to improve machining effectiveness
- Collaborate with tooling engineers and/or fixture builders as needed
- Solve technical and other manufacturing problems
- Maintain safe practices in all areas of responsibility
- Evaluate capital equipment proposals
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prefer an Associates Degree or Quality Certification. Will consider strong experience in CNC programming/machining
- 5+ years experience as a machining engineer
- Must possess strong CNC programming skills
- Possess strong blueprint reading skills
- Deep understanding of machining processes, practices, tools, and techniques
- Strong knowledge of all testing, inspection, and calibration functions
- Ability to interact well with customers, machine shop, and foundry personnel
- Strong ability to problem solve and communicate in understandable language
- Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills
- Experience with machining iron castings is a plus.
- Engineering degree is a strong plus
- Professional certifications are a plus, i.e. PE, Six Sigma, etc.
