A prominent law firm in the Houston area is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant to join their team on a permanent, direct hire basis.
Requirements:
- 3 or more years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in a legal department or law firm setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook as well as Adobe Acrobat and document management systems.
- Must be organized and able to handle many tasks at one time.
Duties include:
- Answer phones and relay messages in an timely and professional manner.
- Support multiple assigned attorneys.
- Update internal documents in NetDocs.
- Prepare and track packages/mail sent using Certified Mail Return Receipts.
- Calendaring, keeping up-to-date with upcoming deadlines.
- Prepare conference rooms for meetings.
- Schedule Zoom meetings.
- Initiates communication with attorneys regarding when important assignments are due.
- Electronic filing in state and federal courts.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports for the attorneys.
- Input time for the attorneys.
- Prepare binders for depositions and hearings.
- File management – opening, closing, and retrieval of client files.
