We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Swiss CNC Lead Machinist to join our team. This role is essential to our production operations, where you will leverage your expertise to program, set up, and optimize Swiss CNC/CNC machines, ensuring the highest quality parts are produced efficiently and in line with specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program and Setup: Program and set up Swiss CNC/CNC machines, determining the appropriate methodology, tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds to meet product specifications.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret drawings and solid part models to develop programs that generate quality parts while optimizing processes.
- Process Optimization: Analyze and interpret drawings, manuals, and specifications to identify the best sequence of operations and setup requirements to maximize efficiency.
- Set-Up Sheets: Create detailed set-up sheets based on tooling selection and process criteria.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and verify the accuracy of initial job setups and final outcomes, ensuring compliance with all product specifications.
- Program Revisions: Revise programs and documents to accommodate engineering changes and updates.
- Process Improvements: Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on machine time reductions, tool performance, and new product program testing.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Communicate with the department manager to ensure upcoming and current jobs are on schedule. Collaborate with the Quality department to develop inspection methods, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and in-process checks.
- Shop Floor Assistance: Provide support on the shop floor, assisting with inspection methods, training on machine operations, addressing machine alarms, and troubleshooting program issues.
- Tool Room Assistance: Collaborate with the tool room to develop and design work-holding fixtures and prints.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in programming and setting up Swiss CNC/CNC machines, including tooling selection, speeds, and feeds.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process optimization and efficiency.
- Experience with inspection methods and quality control processes, including First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments, providing technical assistance and support.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality parts in line with product specifications.
