ASSOCIATE – INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Locations: Florida, Georgia, California, DC, New Jersey, New York

Our client, a prestigious national law firm, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Associate to join their Intellectual Property group. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent and trademark prosecution as well as IP transactions.

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Bar Admission in Florida, Georgia, California, DC, New Jersey, or New York, as applicable.
  • 2-5 years of substantive experience in patent and trademark prosecution and IP transactions.
  • USPTO registration number or patent bar eligibility is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent academic credentials and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and practical judgment are required.
  • Experienced in negotiating and drafting intellectual property transactions and software agreements a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day prosecution dockets and prepare USPTO filings.
  • Conduct patent and trademark searches, prepare clearance opinions/advice, and respond to office actions responses.
  • Negotiate and draft IP transaction and software agreements.
  • Conduct IP due diligence for M&A transactions and prepare related documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and collaborate with other lawyers within the firm.
