We are seeking a skilled
to perform repair, service, and maintenance tasks on heavy construction equipment in various field environments. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in repairing and troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, powertrain, and engine components of heavy machinery.
Regular Job Duties:
– Drive a service truck to project sites to conduct maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment, such as dozers, excavators, track hoes, and other heavy highway construction machinery
– Execute a range of skilled tasks, including inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of general heavy construction equipment and heavy trucks
– Perform welding tasks for equipment repairs as needed
– Operate a crane to facilitate maintenance and repair work
– Accurately read, comprehend, and complete service-related documents and paperwork in a timely manner
– Carry out preventative maintenance inspections to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities
– Maintain a clean work vehicle and work area to promote a safe working environment
– Apply extensive knowledge of the construction industry, including experience operating and repairing heavy equipment
– Interpret specifications and manuals to guide repair and maintenance tasks
– Diagnose and repair a diverse array of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
– Safely utilize hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices
– Communicate effectively with vendors, supervisors, and equipment operators
– Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of equipment safety protocols
– Perform additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
– Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic, preferably in a field setting
– Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to seventy (70) pounds; climb, kneel, twist, and bend in various environments
– Possession of personal hand tools
– Capacity to perform high levels of physical activity and engage in strenuous, hands-on tasks
– Sufficient manual dexterity to effectively use tools and manipulate small components
– Proficiency in verbal and written English communication
– Aptitude for applying basic algebra and geometry concepts, as well as Construction Math skills (e.g., calculating rate, ratio, and percent)
– Valid driver’s license for occasional, required travel
– Competence in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
– Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, dealing with both abstract and concrete variables
– Physical capability to navigate minor obstacles at construction sites by foot
– Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, sun, snow, and wind
