General Electrician

Job Title: General Electrician

MUST HAVE INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE (NO RESIDENTIAL OR CONSTRUCTION)

Primary Function:
The General Electrician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, adjusting, testing, and installing electrical equipment and circuits, while ensuring proper functioning and safety of all systems.

Tools & Equipment:
Uses hand tools, power tools, test instruments, motor/controller test equipment, pipe threaders, and safety equipment.

Materials:
Works with electrical hardware, lubricants, coolants, insulation, wires, solder, tape, conduit, fittings, switches, and relays.

Source of Supervision:
Reports to Shift Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Follows prints, diagrams, and instructions to perform maintenance tasks.
2. Carries out electrical maintenance including testing, installation, repair, and cleaning of equipment.
3. Installs, repairs, and maintains motors, motor controllers, and circuits.
4. Makes periodic equipment condition reports to supervision.
5. Works on live electrical lines as required.
6. Installs electrical conduit, fittings, switches, and connections.
7. Ensures safe work practices and uses appropriate safety devices.
8. Troubleshoots and analyzes electrical issues.
9. Makes emergency repairs to minimize plant downtime.
10. Works in both shop and field environments.
11. Keeps records of work completed in log form.
12. Maintains clean work areas.
13. Crane Repairpersons may be reassigned to General Electrician tasks when necessary.
