Estimator – Commercial Construction

ESTIMATOR – COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION          COLUMBIA, SC

 ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing team in the Columbia, SC.  This role is responsible for analyzing project documents, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and preparing comprehensive cost estimates for competitive bid proposals.  The Estimator will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of bids while building strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to confirm complete and coordinated scopes of work. 
• Identify and evaluate risk factors and develop strategies to mitigate them during bidding. 
• Manage and respond to invitations to bid and coordinate proposal submissions. 
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for assigned trades. 
• Collaborate with managers on conceptual budgets and preliminary pricing efforts.
• Develop bid tab sheets, gather and analyze subcontractor proposals, and prepare bid tabulations. 
• Author trade-specific qualifications and exclusions for bid packages. 
• Maintain and grow subcontractor and supplier relationships ensuring alignment with company values and client expectations. 
• Participate in industry networking events to expand subcontractor database and market knowledge. 
• Coordinate smooth turnover of awarded projects to the project management team. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in civil Engineering, Constriction Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience). 
• Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff and other estimating software.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work cross functionally.
