Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to support operations in the Southern Region. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for both public and private infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans, specifications, soils reports, and site conditions to define project scope
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and coordinate bid requirements
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop complete cost estimates
  • Manage pre-bid RFIs and track responses
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
  • Support DBE compliance and good faith effort documentation
  • Analyze project risks and contract requirements
  • Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data
  • Assist with budgeting, scheduling, and procurement planning
  • Support project handoff to operations teams after award
  • Prepare and manage subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Track post-bid timelines through contract award
  • Assist with change orders, cost tracking, and project support as needed
  • Mentor junior staff and support business development efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
    (highway, rail, underground, paving, bridge, or airport projects)
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and takeoffs
  • Experience with:
    • Bid2Win
    • Bluebeam
    • AGTEK
    • SketchUp
    • Primavera P6, SureTrak, or MS Project
  • Knowledge of scheduling, critical path, and cost control
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000 – $150,000 per year
