Estimating Manager

Our Company is seeking an experienced and skilled Estimating Manager to oversee and lead all facets of our Estimating Group. The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of managerial and technical expertise to ensure the efficient and accurate execution of estimating processes. Reporting to the VP Director of Operations, the Estimating Manager will collaborate with The Company’s executive team, shareholders, directors, and managers to achieve the organization’s goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Estimating Group Manager

  • Represent the Company in all matters related to the Estimating Group, contributing valuable insights to Management and Production Meetings.
  • Provide critical input and decision-making expertise on estimating processes, customer feedback, project performance, departmental planning, and business development.
  • Actively participate in industry-related organizations, trade shows, seminars, and meetings.
  • Recommend and implement revenue growth and profitability strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Company’s Contracts, Accounting, and Department Managers to conduct financial and budget analyses.
  • Organize and execute work beneficial to The Company, its customers, and employees.
  • Foster a positive, productive, and healthy work environment.
  • Develop, mentor, and train Estimating Group employees.
  • Ensure all personnel providing quotations are well-trained and qualified.

Estimating Process Management

  • Ensure thorough identification and documentation of customer requirements, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to determine associated costs.
  • Collaborate with Department Managers and Quality Representatives to review requests for quotes, solicitations, contracts, and specifications.
  • Work closely with customers to define project scope, scale, and costs.
  • Integrate estimating processes into The Company’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning tools.
  • Develop or modify procedures, process requirements, quality plans, and work instructions to standardize and document estimating processes.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in project-related estimating.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience managing/leading subordinates or project management.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in shipyards, ship repair industries, or similar sectors.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or a minimum of 4 years of related experience) in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics, engineering management, project management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in relevant estimating fields are advantageous.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and engineering processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a drug screening test.

Travel: Travel to job sites will be required, primarily local during business hours, with occasional out-of-area and overnight travel. All travel complies with The Company’s travel policy.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport equipment and boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, crawling, twisting, and walking up to 8-10 hours per day.
