Electrical Controls Technician 
Location: Charleston, SC

The position is on a DuPont work schedule (rotating shifts, 14-15 days off per month, and 7 consecutive days off monthly).  Overtime pay is time and a half.

Our client, a leading producer of specialty flat-rolled products, seeks a team-oriented Electrical Controls Technician. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in ensuring safety, quality, and productivity through continuous improvement and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on low/medium voltage motor control systems and Siemens/Rockwell drive systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment using PLC interfaces.
  • Assist in installation, start-up, and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and contribute to safety and operational procedure development.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, military-equivalent electronics training, or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong physical capability to work in a manufacturing environment, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Experience with NFPA 70E/NEC safety standards and the ability to read electronic/electrical drawings.
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.

Preferred:

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting with controls automation, electrical/mechanical repairs, and PLC interfaces.
  • Knowledge of PLC logic, industrial automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, and systematic troubleshooting.
