  • Leads and guides the development of hospital and clinic philosophy, approaches, and policies on compensation, benefits, employee relations, and training initiatives.
  • Represents hospital in contract negotiations and provides leadership to the hospital management negotiating teams. Oversees administration of labor agreements and hospital and clinic people services policy. 
  • Consults with legal counsel on union contract issues, legal problems, lawsuits, and compliance issues.
  • Develops Community Medical Center and Community Physician Group goals and objectives in relation to People Services and establishes and implements policies and procedures for operations which support the overall mission, values, and strategic direction of the hospital and clinics.
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of issues and trends in human resource management and leads the People Services team in strategic and operational planning to meet the immediate and long-term human resources need of the organization.
  • Builds and sustains consultative and proactive relationships with senior leaders, consulting in areas such as organizational assessment, employee relations, talent acquisition, work force planning, and change leadership to strengthen overall organizational capability.
  • Drive change through data-based insights and influence. Serve as change champion in support of PS/Talent initiatives and functional strategy.
  • Design organization structures that are efficient and built to address company’s business strategies, including D&I.
  • Coach senior leadership and employees on policy and procedure, conflict resolution, and change management to promote fair and equitable work environment.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and partner with senior leadership t by gathering and analyzing PS and CMC data to drive the development and implementation of solutions to increase employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Fosters positive working relations with union(s) and their constituents.
  • Interprets and administers policy in accordance with collective bargaining agreements(s).
  • Coordinate and assist in contract negotiations and/or implementation and ongoing administration of collective bargaining agreement(s).
  • Conduct risk assessments and provides actionable advice and feedback.
  • Leverage reporting and analytics to identify employee relations trends and communicates to PSBPs/Managers/Leaders to promote direction and promote positive employee relations throughout the organization.
  • Analyze data to identify potential trends; addresses concerns with management and makes recommendations for improving work environment.
  • Participate in Employee Orientation, including presenting content and engaging with new hires.
  • Remain current on state and federal laws and regulations related to employment law.
  • Conducts training on company policies and benefits, coaching techniques, and communication.
  • Provide input for PS Training sessions to teams on key employee related topics, partnering with Workforce Development and Clinical Education as appropriate.
  • Work closely with PS Generalist, Recruiter, and PS Assistant to provide world-class customer service and support to both internal and external clients.
  • Partner with other functional areas as needed to resolve internal customer issues.
Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of human resources experience in a leadership role.
  • Union experience required.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
