DIRECTOR OF DATA ENGINEERING – Cloud and Integration

No sponsorship available. 

We are open to a manager moving up to a Director as long as you have the required leadership experience.

This position is only remote for someone who meets all of the required skills.  Need to be willing to travel occasionally (a couple of times per year).

Base salary up to 170K + bonus (15% target) plus stock (15+%)

To qualify for this position as a remote employee, our client requires you MUST HAVE have the following skills:

LEADERSHIP:

10 years of technology leadership, hiring, mentoring, and inspiring a high-performing agile team of DATA engineers. You should have experience managing a manager. We are looking for someone who can build strong teams, setting a vision that will allow them to run on their own. You’ll need budgetary experience.

TECHNICAL – a progressive background in data out of college:

Cloud (Azure) Data expertise – You are able to provide engineering guidance to delivery teams for effective designs for data solutions. Meaning you must have proven experience with cloud platforms/services (Azure is preferred, AWS will be considered) and data pipelines built using those services.   You should have the experience to provide guidance on what data storage options are best for operational vs. analytic data, an understanding of how data moves through the organization (batch, streaming, API), and how data transformations are handled.  You’ll be able to explain how lineage and data quality are accounted for as part of the solution, and ultimately help determine what tools they put in the hands of their end-users so they can effectively use and manage their data. 

INDUSTRY/EDUCATION

· Financial Services / Insurance Industry Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in a technical discipline OR an associate’s degree with 20 or so years of experience.

SOFT SKILLS:

You must be an excellent communicator who can mentor and develop team members.   No ego.

This role is a mix of strategy, delivery, execution, and leadership. You will have a team of 20, a mix of FTE and contractors.

You will lead teams responsible for implementing and managing data solutions that enable scale, quality, and overall cost-effectiveness. With expertise in data architecture and governance frameworks, you collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address enterprise data needs. You stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to instill an engineering culture within the organization.
