We are seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Director of Biomedical Services to lead and manage our clients hospital-based biomedical technology management services. This key leadership role involves overseeing critical medical equipment’s maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management, ensuring that all equipment is fully operational, compliant, and ready to support patient care. The ideal candidate for the Director of Biomedical Services will have a solid medical equipment field service, repair, and maintenance background and a proven track record of managing teams and making strategic decisions in a hospital setting.
Requirements of the Director of Biomedical Services:
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Healthcare Technology Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CHTM, CBET) are a plus.
8-10 years of experience in biomedical equipment management, with a strong field service and repair background.
Experience managing teams of engineers and technicians in a hospital or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
Deep understanding of medical equipment technology, including preventative maintenance, calibration, and repair processes.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities, focusing on optimizing equipment performance and reducing costs.
Familiarity with hospital environments and the unique challenges of maintaining medical equipment.
Proficiency in inventory management and capital expenditure planning
Responsibilities of the Director of Biomedical Services:
Oversee the lifecycle management of all biomedical equipment, including infusion pumps, defibrillators, EKG machines, operating room beds, surgical lighting, sterilization equipment, hospital beds, and ventilators.
Make informed decisions about acquiring new equipment, retiring outdated equipment, and upgrading existing equipment.
Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and accuracy of all biomedical equipment.
Ensure all equipment is regularly calibrated and meets the necessary regulatory standards to prevent breakdowns and minimize disruptions to patient care.
Lead and manage a team of field service engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
Coordinate and prioritize the work of the team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Maintain an accurate inventory of all biomedical equipment and spare parts.
Make strategic decisions regarding capital expenditures, balancing the needs of the hospital with budgetary constraints.
Coordinate the repair and upgrading of equipment to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Establish relationships with equipment vendors and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs and upgrades.
Ensure all biomedical equipment and related processes comply with hospital policies, industry regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to continuously improve service delivery and patient safety.
