Position Summary:
We’re seeking a Defect Quality Technician to track, reduce, and report cured tire scrap while ensuring compliance with company quality systems and procedures. This role plays a key part in improving production quality and identifying root causes of scrap defects.
Identify, classify, and record cured tire scrap
Perform tire repairs and “first piece” quality checks on mold start-ups
Troubleshoot press setups and shaping/closing cycles
Guide, double-check, and train press loaders
Conduct root cause analysis using press charts and testing tools
Create temporary specifications and serial tins for mold changes
Operate DOT test wheel (overnight shifts)
Track weekly serial changes and press shaping checks
Communicate findings with technical and production teams
Understand curing/building processes and standard work instructions
Perform additional duties as assigned
Associate’s degree preferred, or equivalent training/experience
3+ years of technical training in quality inspection or auditing preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing environments
Ability to interpret and write technical specifications
