This role will be part of a central engineering group that supports about 10 facilities, most of which are located in the Southeast US. These facilities are primarily manufacturing commodity/bulk chemicals. At this central engineering site, there is a brand-new, state-of-the-art pilot facility and the 7 people in this group are all based out of this site. You will be doing a variety of things, most of which are oriented around strategic process and continuous improvement as well as capital projects. On the capital project side of things, their projects range from $1M-$30M and the larger ones utilize an EPC firm. Travel for this role will top out at around 50% and the amount of travel at any given time largely depends on what is going on.
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
6+ years of post-college, industry experience out of PSM-regulated chemical manufacturing environments of some kind – ideally commodity or specialty chemicals, but could also consider pulp/paper, petrochemical, refining, etc.
Looking for someone with a broad engineering skillset – someone who has done cradle-to-grave projects of at least $1M, who has worked hands-on in a plant setting and who has a demonstrated ability to work well in teams
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
About the Area:
This role is located in Northeast MS – most people live in the Starkville area which is where Mississippi State University is located (approx. 16,000 students). Columbus, MS is also nearby. Most people fly out of Golden Triangle Regional airport, which connects through Atlanta. Real estate prices are averaging about $150-$200/sq ft. The three nearest cities are Memphis, Jackson, and Birmingham (all about 3 hours from the Starkville area).
