Controls / Automation Engineer

Our client, a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is seeking a Controls / Automation Engineer to support automation systems and improve manufacturing processes within their production environment. This role will focus on supporting automated equipment, programming PLC controls, and improving system reliability and efficiency across the plant.
The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial automation, robotics, and PLC programming, preferably within an automotive manufacturing environment. Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell controls and ABB robotic systems is highly desirable.
This position offers a salary range of $90,000 – $110,000, depending on experience.
Assist with the installation, startup, debugging, and programming of automated production equipment
Program and troubleshoot PLC systems, primarily Allen-Bradley / Rockwell platforms
Support and troubleshoot robotic systems, including ABB robots
Work closely with the maintenance team to identify project priorities and support equipment improvements
Assist machine repair teams with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of automated equipment
Maintain and update automation documentation, control parameters, and program backups
Support Poka-Yoke and error-proofing initiatives to improve product quality and manufacturing reliability
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve efficiency, productivity, and equipment uptime
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including equipment upgrades and cell modifications
Provide technical support across multiple shifts to ensure automation systems run efficiently
Associate degree in Electronics, Automation, Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
Minimum 2 years of experience programming and troubleshooting robotics or control systems
At least 3 years of experience working with industrial manufacturing equipment
Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC systems
Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell controls preferred
Experience with ABB robotic systems is highly preferred
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills within automated manufacturing environments
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and production teams
