Continuous / Process Improvement Engineer

La Salle /Ottawa, IL (near beautiful Starved Rock on the Illinois River)

 

As the Continuous / Process Improvement Engineer you will be responsible for analyzing and improving processes within the facility to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. This role will focus on identifying waste, developing continuous process improvements, and implementing lean manufacturing / six sigma techniques site-wide.

 

  • Evaluate and optimize current production processes and workflows.
  • Develop strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety.
  • Use lean manufacturing tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) to optimize operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and adjust process improvements as needed.
  • Research and develop new processes for high-speed manufacturing.
  • Establish procedures for safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Review and revise equipment layout for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct tests and monitor process performance through data analysis.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Participate in controlling production costs.

 

What it takes to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field is preferred.  
    • Experience in lieu of degree will be considered. 
    • Must hold at least a High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience with, or ability to learn process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work across departments and teams.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Any exp. working in a regulated environment is a plus
