Construction Associate Attorney

Location: Nashville, TN

 

Our client, a highly-regarded AmLaw 200 firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their growing Construction Practice Group in Nashville. This position offers a clear path for career advancement within the firm, providing hands-on experience in both transactional and litigation aspects of construction law while working alongside seasoned attorneys in a collaborative environment.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in Tennessee.
  • 1–4 years of substantive experience in construction law, including both transactional and litigation matters.
  • Some experience representing owners and developers in construction disputes, including delay claims, liens, compensation and expense issues, and quality-of-work matters.
  • Courtroom and deposition experience are strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to the planning, negotiation, design, and construction phases of complex development projects.
  • Strong legal writing skills, with experience drafting contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents in both litigation and transactional contexts.
  • Pre-law background or previous career in construction are preferred, but not required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent owners and developers in complex construction disputes and litigation matters.
  • Advise clients throughout the planning, negotiation, and execution phases of construction projects.
  • Draft and negotiate construction-related agreements, including design and development contracts.
  • Manage and resolve disputes related to construction projects, including handling claims involving delays, defects, and payment issues.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, and participate in discovery and depositions.
