Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist                                                 Shift: 1st or 2nd shift 
Type: Full time/direct placement                                             
Description: 
  • Set up and operate CNC & Manual Lathes in a safe, appropriate and efficient manner.
  • Load and set tools and work holding devices.
  • Write programs at the controller or offline with CAM software
  • Load and send programs between machine and computer.
  • Recognize, understand and properly adjust dull or chipped tooling.
  • Able to adjust work offsets, tool wear lengths and cutter comp.
  • Modify tools and work holding.
  • Edit and understand G & M code programs.
  • Must produce parts within required tolerances.
  • Follows all company policies, procedures, and work rules.
  • Follows work order instructions, blueprint reading and geometric tolerances.
  • Operate more than one machine when cycle time permits.
  • Responsible for taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition.
 

Requirements

  • Must have good working knowledge of material identification and processing characteristics and processes such as heat treatment etc.
  • Understands blueprints, job travelers, work instructions, program and tooling sheets, tooling specifications, quality documents and familiar with GD&T.
  • Use of inspection hand tools.
  • Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, basic trigonometry preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge with work holding, cutting tools, grinding wheels and shop supplies.
  • Ability to plan, program, setup and run production based on engineering drawings and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam and SolidWorks or similar CAD/CAM software a plus
  • Ability to follow quality plans and the proper use, care and calibration of inspection tooling and equipment.
