Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain CNC machine tool equipment and controls
Identify areas for performance improvement on equipment; perform and promote preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment
Detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components
Utilize machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
Effectively communicate machine issues, status of install or status of machine repair to customer; ensure proper documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer
Exhibit ownership of customer related problems and coordinate with appropriate departments when necessary for resolution of problems to ensure customer service satisfaction
Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field
Maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company
Stay abreast of vendor products and new technology and implement as appropriate
Conduct machine maintenance training as a component of after-sales technical support
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred; High School Diploma/GED required
5+ years as a CNC Field Service Technician or Engineer highly preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
3+ years of experience working with CNC controls; Fanuc extremely beneficial
Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
Problem solving skills and attention to detail with technical aptitude is required
Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and other related business programs
Must be able to work unscheduled overtime without notice
Valid driver’s license and auto/vehicle insurance required
Ability to travel regionally up to 50% of the workweek; some overnight travel required.
Must provide basic hand tools for electrical/mechanical repair
